A current and accurate diagnosis is essential to providing effective treatment, taking a multi-factorial perspective, looking into multiple domains of a patient’s life to address their current condition, beyond a bio-psycho-social model. Although the complex patient’s he has treated may have had multiple prior diagnoses and treatment episodes, Dr. Bhatt begins each assessment and psychiatric evaluation process anew. This ensures that every patient has an accurate diagnosis that addresses where they are now, not simply where they were in the past.
Dr Bhatt believes, “Unlike other areas of medicine where you can see pathology on an x-ray or through physical examination, the mind is an abstract concept. This makes treating illnesses of the mind even more difficult. We have to take our time. We cannot rush. The mind is the final frontier in medicine.”
